Dr. Gerhard Staudenmaier, Germany, short CV

Gerhard Staudenmaier Hashmi (photo)Born in Heidenheim/Brenz, Germany, I grew up with my brother and parents until finishing highschool. At Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, I obtained a diploma in physics and, in the lab of R. Sizmann, wrote a thesis on energy and mass analysis of clusters sputtered from tungsten for my PhD in physics. In the surface physics group at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (Garching, Germany), scanning ion microprobe analysis became the focal aspect of my work, followed by plasma wall analysis of samples exposed to the plasma edge, using various techniques in several tokamaks. Temporarily I worked with our own equipment installed on the French tokamak TFR 400/600 (Département de Physique du Plasma et de Fusion Contrôlée, Centre d’Études Nucléaires, Fontenay-aux-Roses, France). I also collaborated with Sandia National Laboratories (Albuquerque, USA) and the Gesellschaft für Strahlenforschung (Munich-Neuherberg, Germany).

Fields of Research

Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry and Sputtering; Surface Analysis (SIMS, AES, EIX, SEM); Plasma Surface Interaction in Tokamaks; Trapping of Hydrogen in Carbon
